Julie M. Pankey founded JMPankey Partners, in her own words, “to give back to an industry that has been so good to me over the years. I wanted to provide spas with a mentor, just as I have experienced from some of the best in the business. To me it’s about sharing and helping, it is my passion.”
Julie specializes in spa operations and is the recognized wellness tourism expert of The B&B Team®. Julie is curently serving a three year term as Professional Services Commissioner for the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts and Science and as Chair of the Global Wellness Institute Peer to Peer Leadership Training Initiative.
Her accomplished career began in 1993 at Yolanda’s, a full-service luxury salon in Waltham, MA with an innovative combination of fashion, beauty and health. In 1997, Julie accepted the role of Spa Supervisor at the prestigious Spa at Norwich Inn where she managed more than one hundred staff and provided a tranquil environment for guests, including a faithful celebrity clientele.
In July 2002, Julie was appointed Spa Director of the new 25,000 square foot Spa at the Cliff House Resort. Julie grew this start-up facility to seven figures in the first two years and managed a 700 square foot retail boutique. Through her efforts, she helped establish the spa as one of the premier spa destinations in the Northeast.
In May 2007, Julie and her family moved to the Bahamas, where she served as Executive Director of Spa at the Four Seasons Resort, Great Exuma. There, she managed a 32,400 square foot spa, all while developing and executing the Four Season’s standard of service excellence. Julie doubled the spa retail revenue in twelve months, created a customized and indigenous spa menu of services, and certified local Bahamian therapists as nail technicians, estheticians, and make-up artists.
In September 2008, Julie began phase two of her multifaceted spa career as a Branding and Business Development Consultant for various brands including Ionithermie, Mary Cohr, Osea Malibu, Christopher Drummond Beauty, Guinot, ilike Organic Skincare, and TNG. She also founded JMPankey Partners in 2008, the full-circle realization of her dreams and life’s work.
As a spa and wellness expert Julie has helped to contribute the the success of such companies as Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, the Spa at Norwich Inn, Marriott International, Hermann Hill, Cliff House Resort and Spa, Sebasco Harbor Resort, Catania Hospitality, Pacifica Hotels, Fluhme Beauty and many more.
Julie’s recognized expertise has been sought after by television and consumer publications alike. She served as Co-Chairman of the International Spa Association’s Membership/Implementation Committee for five years and Vice President of the New England Spa Association for two years. A native New Englander, Julie holds a degree from Bay Path College in Longmeadow, MA. In addition, she is a Certified Master Nail Technician, Reiki Practitioner and Certified Spa Supervisor.
